Making the Most of Eating Local in South Orange County
The best food advice in any town comes from the people who live there, and the tables around The Ranch agree with them. This post is the written companion to one of Grant's Orange County Living videos, embedded below, about eating local.
The tables worth the drive
South OC dining spreads across town centers rather than one downtown: Gelson's and casual counters at Sendero Marketplace, tacos and garden cafes in old-town San Juan Capistrano, and coastal spots in Dana Point and San Clemente for weekend dinners. The farmers market ties the local season together twice a month.
Ask a resident where they actually eat, not where the listicles send you, and that is the real local table. The farmers market is the best place to start that conversation, and the answer usually involves old town.
Re-watch the tour once for the homes and once for the streets.
The video for this post is playing right above, and the OC Living channel has plenty more tours wherever this one takes you.
